On February 25, 200 family members, advocates, legislators and their staff gathered in the Miller Senate Office Building for MCF's 16th Annual Family Day in Annapolis. Attendees traveled from 21 of Maryland’s counties and Baltimore City to be part of the day.
During the morning session, elected officials and representatives from Governor Hogan’s administration shared their support for programs that support child and adolescent mental health, substance use and other behavioral health needs. They also stressed the importance of family members sharing their experiences with legislators.
"Your presence makes a great difference," said Delegate Sandy Rosenberg.
Delegate Dana Stein stated, "We know how important it is for you to be here, you speak with authenticity."
Following the morning program, families visited elected officials from 25 legislative districts to share their personal stories and experiences. The day concluded with more than 500 advocates and families rallying on Lawyer’s Mall to increase access to behavioral health services. The Keep the Door Open Maryland Rally was organized by the Behavioral Health Coalition.
