International Overdose Awareness Day and National Recovery Month

Communities throughout Maryland will recognize International Overdose Awareness Day on August 31 and National Recovery Month in September. 

International Overdose Awareness Day aims to raise awareness of overdose and reduce the stigma of a drug-related death. It also acknowledges the grief felt by families and friends remembering those who have met with death or permanent injury as a result of drug overdose. National Recovery Month increases awareness and understanding of substance use disorders and celebrates those in recovery.

Substance use resources for parents and caregivers:

Local activities, including vigils, training and rallies, will take place in recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day and National Recovery Month. Below is information for events happening around the state.
