Call for Artwork

Share your perspective through art

Youth and young adults aged 11 to 25 with behavioral health issues, including mental health and substance use challenges, are invited to share their perspective on stigma or recovery through art. Artwork will be shared with the community through a free event this Fall and electronically. Submissions are open to written and visual works. This call for artwork is hosted by Taking Flight, the statewide youth advisory council of Maryland Coalition of Families (MCF).

Artwork Specifications:

Art Theme:
  • Submissions should address stigma and/or recovery from mental health or substance use issues
Format:
  • Visual art, including photography, should be no larger than 11” x 17” in size
  • Written works, including essays, poems, prose and short stories, should be no longer than two pages, double spaced
  • On reverse of submission or separately, share a few sentences that describe how the piece addresses stigma or recovery
Submission Details:
  • Artists may collaborate on a piece of artwork
  • Consent forms must be obtained for each youth/young adult who submits artwork
