On April 7, MCF celebrated 23 participants for completing our 14th annual Family Leadership Institute (FLI). This intensive 60-hour, six-weekend experience trains parents and caregivers to become more effective leaders and advocates for children with behavioral health needs locally and at the state level.
Participants came from across Maryland, including Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Calvert, Cecil, Frederick, Howard, Kent, Montgomery, Prince George's and Somerset counties, and Baltimore City.
Said one graduate, “This experience has been empowering. I have developed the knowledge, tools and confidence to support my son’s educational, mental and behavioral health needs.”
“FLI gave me the confidence to know that I can not only advocate for my own children but also others in an effective way within my own limitations,” said another FLI 2018 graduate.
Thank you to the Maryland State Department of Education and Maryland Behavioral Health Administration for their continued support of this program, to our amazing presenters, and to those across the state who assisted in recruiting participants for the class of 2018.
