Has your family benefited from Family Navigation services?

Beth Hess - Friday, January 22, 2016
In our December Newsletter, we asked you to contact Governor Hogan to request that Family Navigation services be included as an identified priority for Local Management Boards. Since then we have received some additional information. We now ask that you contact the Chair of your Local Management Board (LMB) and ask that they continue to keep Family Navigation as an identified priority.

Sample Letter:

Dear LMB Chair:

I am contacting you because of my concern that our Local Management Board may decide to no longer fund Family Navigation services. My family has benefited tremendously from the support of my Family Navigator. [In 2-3 sentences describe how family navigation has benefited your family. In addition, be sure to mention if these services have impacted your family in a way that relates to four new priorities identified by Governor Hogan: youth homelessness, youth hunger, disconnected youth (over the age of 15 and neither attending school or working) and youth of incarcerated parents. Examples:  your Family Navigator helped to keep your child in school or helped you to access financial supports such as food stamps or helped you to keep your child in your home.]

Please encourage your Board to continue to keep family navigation as a funded service for [insert your county name or Baltimore City.]

Thank you.
